WHY CHOOSE MODEST CLOTHING: Allah has mentioned reasons for clothing: to cover the body and conceal what should not be revealed in public, and to beautify the body so the person looks better. Islamic clothing is known by its modesty. As Muslims, we all are obliged to do what ALLAH has ordered or mentioned in Quran and this is the reason we Muslims Choose to wear modestly.

2. The Importance of Modest Dress in Islam

In Islam, modesty is seen as a fundamental aspect of a person's character, and it is a way to show respect for oneself and others. The Qur’an and the Hadiths of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) instructs both men and women to dress modestly and avoid any clothing or behavior that may be considered provocative or immodest. Modest dress is a reflection of one's inner piety and devotion to God, it is also a way to keep oneself protected from unwanted attention and to maintain one's dignity and respect. Modest dress is therefore not only a religious obligation but also a means of self-discipline and self-control.

For women when in public among unrelated (non-mahram) men:

  • Thick enough so that it is not see-through.

  • Should not resemble the clothing of men.

3. The Struggle of Finding Modest Clothing

Are you really struggling to wear Islamic/ modest clothing? Then this post is just for you. Finding modest clothing can be a real struggle for many women. Many high street stores and fashion brands do not cater to the needs of those who prefer to dress modestly, leaving many women feeling left out and unable to find clothing that fits their needs. Even when modest clothing options are available, they often come at a premium price, making them unaffordable for many. Additionally, limited access to modest clothing brands and online shopping may may also make it difficult for some women to find clothing that fits their needs. The struggle to find modest clothing can be frustrating and disheartening, but it is important to remember that there are ways to overcome these challenges and find the clothing that you need.

The Challenges of Wearing Modest Clothing

1. Limited Options in Stores

One of the biggest challenges of wearing modest clothes is the limited options available in most stores. Many high street stores and fashion brands focus on trends and styles that are often immodest and revealing, leaving few options for those who prefer to dress modestly. This can make it difficult for many women to find clothing that fits their needs and matches their personal style. Additionally, many stores carry a limited selection of sizes and styles, which may not be suitable for all body types. This can make it even more challenging for some women to find clothing that fits them properly, and feel comfortable. The lack of options in stores can be a significant obstacle for those who are trying to dress modestly, but with determination and patience, it is possible to find clothing that fits your needs and style.

2. High Prices for Modest Clothing

Another big challenge of wearing modest clothing is the high prices for modest clothing. Modest clothing, such as long skirts, maxi dresses, and long-sleeved shirts, are often more expensive than their non-modest counterparts. This can make it difficult for many women to afford the clothing they need to dress modestly. The high prices may be due to the fact that these items are often made with high-quality materials and attention to detail, or they may be due to the limited demand for modest clothing. This makes it difficult for many women who want to dress modestly to find affordable options that they can afford. The high prices can also be a barrier to some women who are looking to switch to modest clothing as they think they can't afford it.

3. Fear of Society

This one is also one of the biggest challenges of wearing modest clothes is the fear of society's judgment. Many women who choose to dress modestly often feel self-conscious or worried about how they will be perceived by others. They may worry that they will be judged for their choice of clothing or that they will be seen as different or out of place. This fear can be particularly pronounced in secular or liberal societies where modest dress is not the norm. Women may also fear discrimination or harassment for choosing to dress modestly. This fear can be a significant barrier to women who want to dress modestly but are worried about how they will be received by society. It is important to remember that modesty is a personal choice, and it is not anyone's right to judge or discriminate against someone for the way they choose to dress.
